The Network Engineer will perform network engineering, operations, administration, maintenance and troubleshooting on a large and complex network with an emphasis on the data center.

 

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team to support our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client located in Memphis, TN.

Responsibilities

  • Determine network hardware needs and costs to meet project requirements
  • Install, deploy, configure, maintain and troubleshoot network hardware and issues
  • Establish complex routing schema
  • Coordinate actions to ensure the implementation of networks that support mission requirements
  • Establish networking environment by designing system configuration; direct system installation; and define, document, and enforce system standards
  • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; and collaborating with network architects on network optimization
  • Secure network system by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access
  • Accomplish information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science or other IT related field from an accredited college or university required; an additional four (4) years of related work experience may substitute for a degree

  • At least eight (8) years of related experience required

  • At least five (5) years of network engineering experience to include network monitoring and troubleshooting required

  • Experience with Cisco Routers, Switches and network technologies

  • Proficient in network technologies including Ethernet, VLANS, and TCP/IP

  • Ability to work as part of a team and ability to support multiple tasks at the same time

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Ability to work well independently or in a team setting

  • Preferred qualifications include:

    • Cisco Certifications - CCNP, CCNA or CCDP

    • Experience designing and implementing network configurations

    • Experience implementing and supporting Cisco Nexus 7000 and 9000 switches

    • Experience implementing and supporting Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)

    • Some combination of experience with network technologies including Ethernet, ATM, VLANS, load balancers; TCP/IP; BGP; and other Emerging Technologies

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc.
  • Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 50-75 lbs. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of time.

Additional Requirements as per contract/client:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI clearance is a plus)
  • United States Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residency (Green Card status) for at least three (3) years, and Federal Tax compliant
