Overview

The Sr. Analyst, Operations Research is a key contributor to production planning and process optimization. The senior analyst is responsible for the development and application of quantitative analytical methods, including modeling and simulations; requirements analysis; algorithm development; trade-off and sensitivity analysis; and optimization tools and techniques; as appropriate to support decision making.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain accurate forecasts to predict staff need under a variety of intake volumes and conditions using data/statistical analysis, simulation modeling and other mathematical methods.
  • Analyze data and other information in order to conceptualize and define operational problems and/or improvement opportunities
  • Provide guidance, background information and assistance to management and other staff on the analysis and interpretation of process performance data.
  • Determine the correct mathematical or statistical methods and approaches to answer particular questions
  • Develop an expert level of knowledge of the MAXIMUS BPM framework to define, optimize, automate and manage business processes to identify key measures or indicators or process performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance.
  • Collaborate with others in the organization to ensure successful implementation of chosen problem solutions
  • Design, conduct and evaluate statistical, simulation, optimization or other mathematical models to uncover more effective ways to deliver service to the client.
  • Identify innovative and pragmatic solutions to management problems.  
  • Analyze existing systems and organizational processes to make recommendations to improve their design and behavior to improve service to the client.
  • Document "best practice" approaches and continuously measure project outcomes for desired results.
  • Write and make presentations to clients, often requiring clear and persuasive explanation of complex processes to a non-technical audience.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; field of study in Operations Research, Public Affairs/Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, or other related field preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Operations Research, Public Affairs/Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Management Information Systems, or other related field preferred.
  • 5 plus years analytical experience performing statistical analyses utilizing regression/time series
  • 2 plus years developing/maintaining forecasts to predict staff need under a variety of intake volumes and conditions
  • Knowledge of complex relational databases, mathematical modeling and statistical software
  • Knowledge of business and management principals involved in strategic planning and resource allocation
  • Experience with workforce modeling, production methods and coordination of people and resources
  • Experience identifying and implementing sustainable "best practice" solutions and procedures in the area of mathematical modeling and statistical methods
  • Experience with simulation modeling (Arena preferred)
  • Experience working in a shared services organization preferred
  • Experience with government sponsored health care programs and operations, particularly desirable
