Threat management is concerned identifying threats and mitigating their effects to ensure the security of all employees and assets. Threats include insider threat, active shooter, counter-intelligence and anti-terrorism.
Work in this security function is concerned primarily with the protection of sensitive or classified information, personnel, facilities, installations, or other sensitive materials, resources, or processes against criminal, terrorist, or hostile intelligence activities. Threat management specialists develop security policy and design, develop, evaluate, and sometimes install protection systems and devices to insure that sensitive information, equipment, and other material is not compromised. Threat management includes the following areas: threat assessment and mitigation, insider threat monitoring and response, active shooter education, training, and drills, counter-intelligence operations and intelligence gathering, information security support, and anti-terrorism planning , evaluation and mitigation.
