Project/Position Introduction

This key position is for the Health Services Operations projects (Call Centers) operating out of Fort Pierce, Florida.  The position can be either located in Fort Pierce, FL or located anywhere (remote) with extensive travel to the Fort Pierce, FL office locations.


Reporting to the Sr. Vice President BPM, the Sr. Manager BPM and Business Analytics designs, oversees the development of strategies to advance the discipline of BPM  especially in using a consistent set of process oriented metrics to both measure past performance and guide business planning. The position directly supports strategic and tactical integration and use of BPM across MAXIMUS lines-of-business and ensures that operations and management staff understand the application of BPM principles in operational, i.e., non - technical language. The position works with other staff at every level of the organization soliciting strategic imperatives from senior leaders and executives, and supporting business unit managers as they leverage MAXIMUS best practices in BPM principally in the areas forecasting and staff planning, business process design, and business intelligence. The Sr. Manager BPM and Business Analytics ensures that the disciplines, technologies and best practices in BPM, including process simulation / optimization and statistical analysis are incorporated in the business analytics solutions of BPM best practices for MAXIMUS’ call centers and operational functions. In close collaboration with other functional areas including operations and systems, the position ensures that an optimized and “end – to –end” solution is in place and that the solution drives operational efficiency while maintaining quality in operations through solution standardization (business processes and technology). In addition the position directs the design and implementation of technologies and practices for real – time process monitoring and analysis as well as data warehouses and data marts, ETL processes and other OLAP solutions. The Sr. Manager BPM and Business Analytics works closely with executive, project management and front-line staff in varied locations to ensure that best practices and standards are being appropriately applied and producing the intended results. The position mentors other staff on the proper use of analysis methods, tools, and practices and is responsible for ensuring that complex process models and other documentation are presented to clients and stakeholders in a clear and non-technical manner. The position is expected to travel up to 50% of their time.  



  • Lead the development and effective use of BPM best practices especially in overall process design for forecasting and staff planning.
  • Support integration of BPM principles in strategic initiatives at the regional and corporate levels.
  • Direct the use and understanding of modern process description standards such as BPMN and XPDL.
  • Lead and oversee the use of simulation and optimization technologies and tools for both process design and ongoing operational decision support especially in the area of staffing optimization.
  • Develop a vision for overall Business Analytics solution architecture and specification of technologies based on both company and internal client business needs.
  • Establish effective and efficient formal and informal collaboration with other functional areas including operations and systems to facilitate the understanding, clarification, and implementation of BPM and Business Analytics in an agile environment.
  • Provide high quality and timely services that retain internal and external customer loyalty and encourage the deployment and use of process analytics and business intelligence technology.
  • Identify key measures and indicators of process performance used in process – centric reporting, how they will be presented to process stakeholders, and the actions needed to improve or correct performance.
  • Lead and oversee the use of simulation and optimization technologies and tools for both process design and ongoing operational decision support especially in the area of staffing optimization.
  • Identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and “stress – test” process designs using process simulation / optimization and statistical analysis methods.
  • Ensure all required documentation is accurate, correctly detailed, and kept up-to-date and organized in the appropriate repository.
  • Apply appropriate statistical analysis and quantitative methods to analyze data and predict future trends and variability especially in producing and maintaining reliable forecasts.
  • Analyze data and other information in order to conceptualize and define process problems and/or improvement opportunities.
  • Design, conduct, and evaluate statistical, simulation, optimization or other mathematical models to uncover more effective ways to deliver service to the client.
  • Write and make presentations to internal and external clients, often requiring clear and persuasive explanation of complex processes to a non-technical audience.
  • Provide guidance, background information, and assistance to management and other staff on the interpretation and effective use of process models, analysis “dashboards”, and other analysis artifacts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a technology related field, e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Sciences, Management, Information Sciences or Operations Research.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Strong facilitation skills. Must be able to elicit requirements from various personalities across organizational boundaries.
  • Strong relationship management skills, able to be effective at all organizational levels; users, team members and all levels of management.
  • Aptitude for prioritizing work within broad policies and objectives.
  • 7 + years’ experience with project management, requirements analysis, functional and technical specification, implementation, build/deployment, maintenance and support for real – time process monitoring / mining as well as data warehouses and data marts, ETL processes and other OLAP solutions.
  • 7+ years’ experience with the uncovering and building of  ROI focused business cases with costs, benefits, and efficiency measures for implementation of leading edge technology for real – time process monitoring / mining as well as data warehouses and data marts, ETL processes and other OLAP solutions.
  • 5+  years successful implementation of  business process and simulation modeling including observation and subject matter expert interviewing techniques, model verification and model validation methods.
  • 5+  years of experience in day-to-day operational settings applying BPM based process improvement disciplines.
  • 5 + years of experience articulating processes in standards-based modeling languages, e.g. BPMN.
  • Experience with government sponsored health care programs and operations desirable.
