  • Project/Position Introduction

    The IT Project Manager will provide resolutions, create and manage project schedules, communicate project updates/issues/risks to stakeholders, identify deficiencies and make improvements related to processes and activities within the overall scope of systems project management.  Based on current and projected workload, another project manager is needed for this project. Will identify and analyze problems, evaluate and recommend 


    Responsibilities of the IT Project Manager include:

    • Coordinate and participate in documenting project and performance management processes.  Participate in reviews of data derived from project and performance management processes and summarize findings.
    • Identify and contribute to activities that will result in positive client satisfaction metrics, with a goal of increasing ratings annually.
    • Participates in client meetings to address needs of project stakeholders; develops trust, credibility, and strong client relationships; seeks opportunities to add value to internal and external client initiatives.
    • Gather data using established methodologies to perform quality reviews of work products delivered by team members and service providers. Prepare reports using established baselines; evaluate trends to support continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Contribute to management functions: including work breakdown and cost estimation, scheduling, monitoring and tracking of technical progress against the defined timetables and budgets, and staff assignment and development.
    • Gather data and report on issues and challenges related to the effective execution of project and performance management processes.
    • Gathers information related to systems management activities (such as estimates, resources, time logs, risks, change requests, and schedules); analyzes data, and prepares reports documenting findings of such analysis.
    • Prepare process documentation and training materials.
    • Maintain knowledge library and documentation of system operation procedures.
    • Gather system data and performance reports to support identification of trends and business impact.
    • Identify, track, manage, and communicate risks and issues with upper management. 
    • Gather data and prepare reports to support the administration of project and program review activities.
    • Coordinate and participate in meetings; conduct interviews with customers (internal and external) and team members to elicit business requirements and set achievable expectations.
    • Perform activities of the project in accordance with MAXIMUS established policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as necessary and assigned.


    • Project manage small to large level projects (includes such items as work breakdown structures and cost estimation, scheduling, monitoring and tracking of technical progress against the defined timetables and budgets, and staff assignment and development)
    • Identify, track, manage, and communicate risks and issues with upper management
    • Communicate project updates, such as status reports, to internal and external stakeholders
    • Perform administrative duties, such as scheduling/attending internal and external meetings, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, creating/updating project and process documentation, reviewing work products and other duties assigned by management
    • Prepare and respond to client and vendor change requests/inquires (such as IARs and Charters)
    • Work with stakeholders in defining solutions to business problems, process problems and defects

    The Ideal Candidate will Possess the Following Additional Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university within preferred field of study in Computer Science. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
    • At least 5 years of software development life cycle direct experience. (Waterfall, Agile)
    • At least 2 years of experience with project management tools and processes such as PMBOK, ISO, Six Sigma, risk management, project scheduling, estimating, and facilitation. 
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Strong interpersonal skill to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders.
    • Excellent, written and verbal communication skills.
    • Basic understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, and time tracking.
    • Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision required.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel, Visio, MS Project, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience using spreadsheets, databases, and/or reporting software to perform analysis.
    • Working Knowledge of IVR, Oracle 11g, Oracle Siebel, OBIEE, J2EE, Web Technologies, Webservices, XML, or Deployment Management experience is a plus.
    • Relevant industry experience to include government services, healthcare, insurance preferred
    • Proficiency with state healthcare programs (e.g., Medicaid, CHIP) and related functions (e.g., enrollment management, eligibility determination) preferred.
    • CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) Certificate, or PMP preferred.
