  • As a BI analytics engineer you will create standard BI product and analytical solutions to support our expanding agile software development lifecycle platforms and environments.
  • Apply architectural and engineering concepts to implement a solution that meets operational requirements while maintaining sustainability objectives, including scalability, maintainability, security, reliability, extensibility, flexibility, availability, and manageability.
  • Possess the unique ability to bridge the gap between business and technology and work with business partners to identify areas where we can use analytical solutions to make business processes more efficient.
  • Comfortably navigate the entire lifecycle of an analytics initiative – from leading meetings to gather business requirements, selecting datasets, defining appropriate analytics paths to apply, to documenting processes and presenting compelling results that drive outcomes
  • Participate in research and development efforts (proof of concept, prototype)

Ensure technology solutions are production ready and meet the defined specifications and that the solution can be maintained and deployed via production support methodologies and resources

Job Description Summary

Maximus is seeking a BI analytics engineer to support our agile transformation process from project to product solution delivery in our Standardized Operations and Analytics group within our Health and Human Services division. This exciting opportunity will provide insights by leading analytic practices – including designing new and creative advanced analytical solutions – that will become part of our core analytical product solution offerings. The selected candidate will work closely as part of a cross-functional agile product team to identify and prioritize actionable, high-impact insights connected to many different areas of our business processes. A BI analytics engineer works with the entire lifecycle of analytics initiatives (research, design, development, implementation, and validation) using enterprise BI toolsets and cloud-based data as a service backend solutions. This role will also participate in other continual process improvement activities, guide product owners, support UI/UX design, scrum management, and execute ad-hoc requests, as needed. The role is fully remote, with limited travel requirements, but travel may be up to 5% time when necessary.

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytical field (mathematics, engineering, finance, industrial engineering, applied economics, accounting, computer science or other related field) or minimum 2-4 years of relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of Enterprise BI application development experience with MicroStrategy 10x or other tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Cognos, OBIEE.
  • Minimum 2 years of SQL programming including performance and tuning experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with relational databases, cloud, and big data environments (e.g. Snowflake, Hadoop, SQL server, Oracle, Teradata). Understanding of relational and dimensional modelling and ETL/ELT tools and processes.
  • 1+ years’ preferred experience working with common data science toolkits such as R, Weka, Python/NumPy, MATLAB.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to present complex technical/analytical concepts to executive audience.
  • Works well both independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively in an agile team
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong passion for creating and building analytical solutions for answering complex questions with data
  • Ability to clearly communicate data findings to educate partners, motivate action, and improve business outcomes
  • Experience with government sponsored health care programs and contact center operations desirable
