Job Description Summary

Under broad supervision, the IT Network Engineering Manager manages the operations and staff activities of the Network Operations group for the MAXIMUS IT Team. This position is also responsible for analyzing and designing solutions to solve problems, and assuring the integrity, security, and effective performance of the computing infrastructure and network. This position is ideally technical to pitch in where needed to lead the team in troubleshooting efforts.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages the operations of network services, and assures the integrity, security, and effective performance of network systems and services; enforces procedures and standards, and advises on capacity planning.
• Provides leadership and guidance in network systems support, systems management, implements technical strategies, business continuity plans, and operational priorities.
• Supervises the activities and functions of Network Operations work group: prioritizes workload, plans and coordinates tasks and projects, monitors work activities, tracks and reviews work progress, trains and mentors staff; assigns projects and areas of responsibility, establishes goals, and evaluates performance.
• Meets regularly with network staff to discuss and resolve priorities, special assignments, problems, objectives, resource allocation, staff development, and technical issues.
• Manages the installation, configuration, and operational turnover of network devices and core infrastructure; and customer support; sets department goals and performance measures; manages resources to meet MAXIMUS IT goals.
• Plans, designs, and works to ensure the continuous operation of MAXIMUS’s Datacenter hardware and Cloud Network services
• Monitors network operations activities and ensures reporting staff documents changes; resolves configuration and connectivity issues, and other traffic, security, and access problems; evaluates network operating efficiency, and assures optimum performance, system integrity, and maximum uptime.
• Analyzes operations, and develops solutions to resolve technical issues; develops plans for improved management and expansion of network resources; evaluates current and potential network and system problems, and recommends new technology resources.
• Enforces technology policies and system controls; recommends new hardware and software.
• Stays abreast of trends and innovations in information systems issues and policies.
• Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and MAXIMUS information; performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Education and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field; equivalent work experience (8+ years in Networking) will be considered in lieu of degree
• Four (4) or more years’ experience in multiple network systems environment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Requires skill in coordinating the implementation of technology projects
• Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines
• Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands; and managing the work of others
• Experience in solving technical problems involving multiple operating systems, applications, and platforms.
• Experience in operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software
• Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
• Occasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves items weighing up to 25 pounds
• Work is constantly performed in an office environment

Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the network engineering team, including tracking work assignments, managing Kanban boards, performing stakeholder communications and handling escalations.

- Drive the delivery of high-quality network solutions by creating standards, templates, documentation, test-cases, and operational turnover checklists.

- Ensure the successful delivery of network engineering projects by leveraging agile concepts and portfolio management techniques.

- Drive the use of automation and cloud technology for improved efficiency, cost, and agility. In addition, support the NextGen network technology vision and roadmap.

- Work closely with the network operations team to ensure the seamless transition of solutions from network engineering to operations and create feedback loops that help drive network operation’s SLA improvements.

- Assess talent, set performance standards, identify gaps, and hold team members accountable to standards. In addition, provide mentorship opportunities and create stretch roles to develop future leaders.

- Establish goals, develop resource plans, prioritize work, and provide regular performance feedback to team.

- Stay abreast of industry trends, perform benchmarking, and drive continuous improvement activities for the team.

- Maintain absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and MAXIMUS information; perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in related field.

- 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.

- Four (4) or more years’ experience in multiple network systems environment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Requires skill in coordinating the implementation of technology projects
- Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines
- Ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and demands; and managing the work of others
- Experience in solving technical problems involving multiple operating systems, applications, and platforms.
- Experience in operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills
