The DevSecOps Cloud Architect calls for a unique combination of being adept at developing Application and Solution architectures on multi-cloud platforms (AWS major), leveraging complete infrastructure automation, CICD pipelines creation with code quality, and security gates. The role calls for being very hands-on, guiding R&D teams in a startup-incubation environment. Expertise in cloud-native technologies, containers, micro-services is very desirable. Preference is for candidates with demonstrable experience releasing production code, developing PaaS/SaaS offers on AWS and other cloud platforms. Having a domain in security and compliance is a bonus. The candidate must have a “can do attitude “and a go-getter when it comes to innovation, proactively designing and implementing the technical solutions, and talented problem solver.
Essential Job Duties:
•Innovate, and develop cutting edge cloud solutions through automation – IaC (Infrastructure as code), DevSecOps tools (CICD, Code quality, security, and monitoring), and cloud services
•Ensure the infrastructure, services, and applications developed meets all standards including, security, monitoring, performance, and SLAs.
•Proactively learn and expand expertise on newer technologies and industry best trends to support new and existing business programs.
•Consult, and collaborate with project teams on technology and solutions
•Communicate architecture guidelines and technical details to technical and non-technical audiences.
•Lead efforts of virtual teams. Understand regional cultural considerations and forms tight working relationships.
•Participate in Innovation activities by commenting and generating ideas and leading a team that can be multisite.
•Coach and mentor various teams regarding Cloud best practices, cost optimizations, and efficiencies.
•Participate and contribute to FedRAMP security audits, documentation, AWS Well-Architected reviews.
Position is remote in Washington DC area only, and will periodically require being onsite at the Maximus McLean, Virginia office.
Education and Experience:
•Computer Science/EE undergraduate/Engineering degree and a minimum of 12+ years of experience in software architecture/development with last 4-5 years working on DevSecOps, CICD in Cloud environments - preferably AWS cloud
•Certifications- AWS Solution Architect or AWS DevOps Engineer
•Demonstrated experience leading and developing complex applications using Terraform, Cloud formation, Python, setting up CICD pipelines, AWS ecosystem, Elastic Search, and Agile framework
•Hands-on working experience in Terraform (IaC), Jenkins groovy scripts, and Python. Must have a development background and thinking.
•Extensive experience in installing, configuring, integrating, and maintaining tools and technologies like Jenkins, JIRA, SonarQube, Fortify, Git, ZAP, Nessus/Anchore – etc. and automating monitoring using ELK / Grafana stacks
•Extensive experience in consuming and configuring AWS services – ECS, EKS, ECR, S3, RDS, KMS – etc.
•Must have a working knowledge of Kubernetes or container technologies like ECS, EKS, OpenShift, etc.
•Ability to articulate and explain the high-level architectures and design ideas to larger audiences and stakeholders.
•Solid Understanding of Cloud-native pillars such as Cost, Security, Performance, Resiliency
•Team Player, leader, and mentor
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Speak clearly in plain English and comprehend others.
Desired Skills:
•Developing reference architectures and developing code based on reference architectures
•Customer-focused with a bias for rapid prototyping, designing, and scaling
•Understanding of newer AWS offerings like SageMaker, Kubeflow, Rekognition, and other AI/ML services.
•Understanding of IDM solutions like AWS Cognito, Okta, and Keycloak
•Knowledge of security & encryption using Vault, HCM, KMS, etc.
•Knowledge of event driven architectures, streaming data using Kafka streams etc.
•Knowledge of Security industry frameworks like FedRAMP, NIST, CIS Benchmarks – etc. is desirable. Experience in building IaaS/PaaS/SaaS models with FedRAMP security controls is an additional advantage.
•Ability to work in small/large teams that are distributed; Hands-on mindset with the ability to guide R&D teams on Cloud and SaaS/Application architectures for Cloud
•Ability to respond to RFI/RFPs and provide technical solutions and strategies
•Willing to interact with senior client representatives face to face.
•Advanced knowledge of engineering concepts/principles
•Proactive, analytical, and capable of influencing

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and interface with the developers to design, develop, test and implement critical functionality and POCs.
- Work with clients to create strategies and frameworks.
- Architect and design application solutions.
- Guide developers.
- Provide hands-on development support.
- Design software components from business requirements.
- Document and diagram application functionality from business requirements.
Minimum Requirements:
- Typically requires an advanced technical degree and a minimum of 12 years in progressively responsible positions.
- Individual contributor who oversees large, technically complex projects.
- Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues.
- Position is recognized as a subject matter expert within a particular discipline.
- Some barriers to entry exist at this level (Sr Executive approval).
- Knowledgeable of emerging trends and may contribute to and influence best practices within discipline.
